Whitehead family

Timboon, WestVic Dairy region

The Whiteheads from Timboon (Mat and Renee and Mat’s parents John and Leeanne) combined two farms and herds, and built a new dairy in 2013. They entered the Focus Farm program in 2014 looking to maximise fertility while implementing a successful succession plan

Specific challenges the Whiteheads are addressing as Focus Farmers include:

  • Increasing herd fertility and maintaining a seasonal calving herd

  • Growing more home-grown feed

  • Developing business succession strategies

  • Monitoring and improving return on investment
